My story in road safety

2003 - Crash investigatorMy career began in 2003 as a crash investigator and analyst at the Swedish Road Administration Consulting Services (Vägverket Konsult). For several years I visited crash locations, examined crashed vehicles. Why do some crashes result in fatalities while others only in minor or no injuries?

2009 - How to prevent deaths and serious injury?I decided to go deeper and discover how to prevent them. I became an analyst at the Swedish Transport Administration.

2012 - Creating analytical frameworks for Vision ZeroIn parallel with my work at the Administration, I pursued a research career inspired by some of the great minds that invented and developed the Vision Zero approach. The methodologies developed from my research later became the foundation of the analytical framework and target management system for Sweden’s Vision Zero road safety strategy.

2017 - CurrentI started to focus on counties outside of Sweden, advising countries and jurisdictions around the world. I became the Strategy Lead at Safe Systems Solutions and co-founded Lösningar to improve planning for Vision Zero. In 2021, Strandroth Inc. was founded.

Expert Advice and Support
My primary clients are government agencies, funding bodies like the Word Bank and humanitarian organisations like the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement that seek to investigate and improve road safety at various locations around the globe. My job is to assess the current status and provide funding options, give recommendation and identify key priorities.
Crash Investigation and Data Analysis
There are no sustainable strategies without data. Having been part of the development of the Vision Zero target management framework I know the importance of high quality data. I help organisations that want to improve their data collection and better utilise knowledge from crashes and injuries. As a certified forensic crash investigator I can also conduct specific investigations for court cases, insurance matters or other liability issues.

Strategy development
I have supported and overseen the development of numerous road safety strategies and action plans. Typically this process is about helping organisations and governments to specify strategic intent and targets, undertake gap-analysis and perform crash data modelling to find the most effective strategic response both near term and long term. For more advanced strategy projects I can offer comprehensive solutions through Lösningar Pty Ltd and Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd.
Research
An evidence based approach is really the only acceptable approach when working in public health. As a researcher I can assist with everything from study design, data collection and processing to publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. I also help companies in product development though background research, literature review, problem definition and proof of concept.
